What is DoorDash?

Restaurants use DoorDash to offer delivery to their customers without the need of hiring in-house drivers. Customers use DoorDash to easily browse all their local restaurants and order food from one central app.

What does a DoorDash delivery driver do?

DoorDash delivery drivers, called Dashers, fulfill orders by going to the restaurant, picking up the food, and delivering it straight to the customer's door.

How do I make money with DoorDash?

You earn on every delivery you make. Your earnings are made up of the base pay, promotions, and tips. Base pay is dependent on the time, distance, and desirability of the order. The base pay will not change based on the customer's tip amount. Promotions will vary but are usually given during busy hours or if you meet certain earning goals in a given period of time. Finally, the tips you earn from customers go 100% to you and are on top of your base pay and bonuses.

Can I set the times I work?

When you want to start working, simply open up the DoorDash app and press the 'Dash Now' button. Then pick the time slots you want to work, which are in half-hour increments.

What information is given when an order notification comes in?

Before accepting any delivery, you are provided with the following order details: name and location of the restaurant, how many items in the order, the total distance you’ll need to drive, and most importantly how much money you’re guaranteed to make.

How often will I get paid?

Payment is on a weekly basis for all your deliveries completed between Monday-Sunday from the previous week. Direct deposit into your bank account typically takes 2 days.

What about tips?

The default tip on every DoorDash food order is 15% and you get to keep 100% of it.

Which restaurants will I pick up food from?

DoorDash partners with local restaurants along with national chains like McDonald's, Subway, and Starbucks.

What are the requirements to become a Dasher?

If you can drive and have reliable access to a vehicle, you most likely qualify. Here are more specifics:

At least 18 years old
A vehicle, scooter, or bike
Valid driver's license
A social security number

How do I sign up to become a Dasher?

Sign up on the DoorDash website.
Answer a few basic questions and complete signup.
Get the app on your phone and you’ll be ready to start earning once approved.

Is there a background check?

Background checks take 5-7 business days and are processed through DoorDash's third party consumer reporting agency, Checkr. After you submit your application, you can check your status directly on the Checkr website.

Is being a DoorDash food delivery driver right for me?

Food delivery apps continue to grow in popularity, and the demand for delivery drivers will grow along with it. For someone with no prior experience and wants flexible hours, being a Dasher could be a good job for you.
